When I first talked with Meghan and Casey on their discovery call I learned quickly that these two had two adjectives when planning their wedding. One, they wanted to celebrate in their own way and style. Two, they wanted everyone who came to feel special and have a good time. Looking back on their day I can say that both were accomplished.
Our plan was to have the ceremony at Highland Park in an area tucked back only a short walk through the pines behind the conservatory and then everyone would be shuttled back to OKAY Beer Co for the Reception.
On the morning of the Wedding Mary, our Event Associate, and I arrived at Okay Beer Co to start working on setting up the layout, flowers, and centerpieces and heading over to Highland to get set up there. When we were finished at the Bowling alley the place was covered with colors everywhere. The most beautiful flowers filled the bowling alley and brewery and the tables were decorated with vintage beer trays, candles, and cameras.
It was time to make the call on if we wanted to take the chance and hope the rain held off for the Ceremony or move everything to the Reception site. After talking with Meghan, we knew we would be playing it close but they really wanted to try and have their Ceremony outside, Mary and I headed to Highland (after coffee of course) and got set up.
As soon as we got to the city the rain was raining so hard I couldn’t hear Meghan on the phone as she called to say change of plans. I was 3 minutes from arriving at Highland and when I pulled up her I could barely see her through the glass window because of how heavy the rain was.
I stayed in my car calling her and we laughed together about how crazy the rain was and we needed to switch to having the Ceremony at the Bowling Ally. It was no surprise to me that both Meghan and Casey were so calm in changing the plans. We had talked all week about the chance of rain as we watched the radar and it got more and more predictable as the days got near.
Mary and I headed back to Okay Beer letting them know the change of plans. Luckily, on our end, we planned for this. All vendors were aware there could be a change and I contacted each of them to let them know we would need to go to Plan B. It was a simple turnover with not much issue.
The rest of the day was magic. Meghan and Casey are so loved and it was clear they were made for each other. I am so thankful to have been a part of their day and helped ensure everything went to plan, even if it was plan B!
Enjoy forever, Mr. & Mrs. Holland!
